(KAIR)--A Jefferson County woman was injured Sunday afternoon while working to clear a pond drain.
Sheriff Jeff Herrig says the incident occurred after the woman attempted to clean brush out of the drain of a pond located on her property north of 132nd and Ferguson Road. A blockage broke free, causing her leg to be pulled in. She was stuck in the drain for nearly two hours, before being rescued.
The victim was transported by Jefferson County EMS to a Topeka hospital for treatment of hypothermia and a leg injury.
Herrig says she is expected to recover.
