(KMZA)--The Nemaha Central USD 115 Board of Education is considering a new substance abuse policy with increased penalties.
Activities Director Warren Seitz discussed the proposed policy with the Board last week. It would cover middle and high school students participating in competitive, KSHSAA sponsored team activities.
For the first two violations, eligibility loss time will increase from the current policy and that time is decreased for self-admission cases. After the third violation, the student will lose eligibility for participation in all activities for one calendar year from the date of that violation.
Violations will now accumulate while the student is enrolled at Nemaha Central instead of throughout one school year. Also the policy will be in effect throughout the year instead of during sports or activity seasons.
The board suggested a few minor edits. The revised policy will be presented to the board during their next regular meeting for final approval.
