New Horton Pool Named As Priority

Horton Mayor Tim Lentz

(KNZA)--Bringing a new swimming pool to Horton.

That's a key goal of City Mayor Tim Lentz, who was sworn in for another term during Monday evening's meeting of the City Commission. “We've got to figure out how to get a new swimming pool for this community,” Lentz told MSC News following his April 7th election win. “This younger generation is speaking up and saying 'this pool is a big deal' and we [need] some sort of plan and some sort of scope for the work and try to get a new pool built in this community.”

Lentz has long pushed, along with the public, the goal of bringing a new pool to the community, needed to replace the well worn current pool, installed in 1967.

Engineers will inspect the current pool, including water levels at the location, but it's unlikely it will be able to open for the approaching swimming season.

Lentz, and the Commisson, have made it a goal to see a new pool ready for the summer of 2016.
