(KAIR)--The Atchison City Commission reorganized Monday as three Commissioners were sworn into office.
City Clerk Deb Clem administered the oath of office to Jack Bower, Charlie Perdue, and David Hausmann at the start of Monday afternoon's meeting. Bower was re-elected to the Commission, while Hausmann and Perdue replaced Rita Hartman, who lost her bid for re-election earlier this month, and Dave Butler, who decided not to run.
Once the swearing in was completed, Butler, in his final act as Mayor, handed the meeting over to City Attorney J.David Farris, who called for nominations for Mayor. Commissioner Allen Reavis nominated Bower, and, after a second, Bower was unanimously elected.
Bower then called for nominations for Vice-Mayor. Perdue nominated Hausmann, who nominated Reavis. After both nominations were seconded, a vote was taken, and Reavis was elected Vice-Mayor by a 3-2 vote.
