Elderly Man Arrested in Museum Coin Theft Case

(KNZA)--An 80-year-old man is accused of stealing rare gold coins from a St. Joseph museum.

St. Joseph Police arrested Richard Follet, of Stewartsville, Tuesday on a charge of felony theft.

According to KQ2-TV, Follett is accused of using a pocket knife to force open a display case at the Pony Express Museum.  Six gold coins dating to the 1860’s were stolen from the case, valued at more than $7,000.

So far, they have not been found.

Follett made his first court appearance Friday, where a judge entered a not guilty plea in the case.

Follett is currently free on bond.
