(KNZA)--The Brown County Commission has approved the vacation of about a quarter mile stretch of a county road near the state line.
Following a hearing Monday drawing no public comment, the Commission approved a resolution vacating a portion of Coyote Road from the north side of Pedee Creek to just north of the intersection with 330th Road. Commission Chairman Warren Ploeger says a bridge over the creek was removed about 1 ½ years ago.
Two adjacent landowners requested the road vacation.
In other business, the Commission approved a contract with the Kansas Department of Revenue who is providing an employee to assist the county due to the unexpected death of County Appraiser Paula Jones.
Anna Porter, a certified appraiser with the state Division of Property Valuation, will help the county until a new county appraiser is appointed. She will be paid a salary plus expenses.
