(KAIR)--Atchison Police are attempting to locate an individual accused of involvement in a vehicle chase Sunday night.
According to Police Chief Mike Wilson, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle near the intersection of Sixth Street and Kansas Avenue just before 10:00. However, the driver failed to stop and attempted to elude the officer. A chase ensued, eventually ending near 298th Road where the vehicle suddenly stopped, and a passenger exited and ran into a nearby field.
Officers gave chase, but were unable to locate the passenger, 25-year-old Blaine Walker. Wilson says that a district court warrant has been issued for Walker, charging him with aggravated battery, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstructing the legal process.
The investigation reveled that Walked allegedly had a handgun with him during the pursuit, and had threatened the driver to flee from officers. Wilson adds that after he jumped out of the vehicle, he allegedly dropped drug paraphernalia and a substance believed to be methamphetamine.
The driver, 19-year-old Atchison resident Tina Ordaz was taken into custody at the scene after officers discovered what appeared to be prescription drugs in her possession. She was booked into the Atchison County Jail on a possession of a controlled substance charge.
The search for Walker is ongoing.
