Father and Son Sentenced On Designer Drug Charges

(MSC News)--A father and son from Kansas, convicted on charges related to the sale of synthetic marijuana and other so-called designer drugs, were sentenced Tuesday to federal prison.

55-year-old Clark Sloan, of Tonganoxie will spend just over 7-years behind bars while his 34-year-old son, Jonathan, of Lawrence, will spend 8-years.

Prosecutors say part of the international operation, which generated revenue of more than $3 million, was based at a warehouse in Oskaloosa.

The Sloans were convicted by a federal jury in September of last year on 20 counts, including one count of conspiracy, two counts of misbranding, 15 counts of mail fraud, one count of smuggling and one count of money laundering.

They were sentenced for violation of the federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, according to U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom.

Co-defendant Bradley Miller, of Wichita, is set for sentencing March 16.
