(KNZA)--The cities of Bern and Mayetta are among 15 Kansas communities that will share a total of nearly $4 million in federal grants through the Community Development Block Grant program for community improvement projects.
The Kansas Department of Commerce says the Nemaha County community of Bern has been awarded a $390,000 grant for street improvements. The city is providing $120,000 in matching funds.
The Jackson County community of Mayetta has been awarded a nearly $210,000 grant, which is also earmarked for street improvements. The city is providing just over $91,000 in matching funds.
