(KMZA)--The Nemaha Central USD 115 Board of Education Monday evening approved a calendar for next school year.
The first day of school will be August 17th and the last day will be May 25th.
Board member Jean Placke cast the lone “ no” vote against approval of the calendar. She said spring break should be moved a week ahead to coincide with the Easter holiday so that the weeks aren’t broken up.
In other business, the Board grant Superintendent Darrel Kohlman authority to seek advertising from businesses for the proposed purchase of an electronic score table for the high school gym for use during sporting events. The table is estimated to cost $19,000.
The board approved a resolution opposing a Senate bill that would move school board elections from the spring to November election ballot of even-numbered years.
And the Board approved a contract with Karlin and Long LLC to conduct the school district’s 2014-15 financial audit.
