(KAIR)--An off-duty Atchison police officer was taken into custody Wednesday night after allegedly taking part in a physical altercation at his residence.
Atchison County Sheriff Jack Laurie says that 50-year-old Bobby Young and his live in companion, 45-year-old Kellie Schuetz were both arrested just after 7:30 after deputies responded to a disturbance call at the home located in the 500 block of South 19th Street. Both were observed to have visible injuries related to the altercation.
Both Young and Schuetz were booked into the Atchison County Jail on a charge of domestic battery, and bond was set at $2,500.
Young posted bond and was released later that night, while Schuetz remains in custody.
Police Chief Mike Wilson says that Young has been placed on administrative leave as the investigation continues.

So sad. Innocent until proven guilty. God please see the real problem in this situation.
