Nemaha Co Sets Hearing on Revitalization Plan

(KMZA)--Nemaha County is considering adoption of a countywide Neighborhood Revitalization plan.

The County Commission on Monday approved a resolution setting a public hearing for March 2nd at 10 in the morning in the meeting room at the Pioneer Building in Seneca on the proposed plan.

Following the hearing, the Commission will consider adoption of the plan which would take effect April 1st.

The proposed plan is for a five year period and would offer a 65 percent rebate on improvements to residential, commercial and agricultural property. There is a five percent administration fee.

The county plan doesn’t include the cities of Seneca or Sabetha.

A copy of the proposed plan is available for review in the Nemaha County Clerk’s office during regular business hours.

The county is also considering participating in the city of Sabetha’s new Neighborhood Revitalization Plan.

A public hearing on that plan is set for March 9th at 6 in the evening in the City Commission chambers at the Sabetha City Hall.

The city’s current plan is set to expire. The new five-year plan would provide a property tax rebate for improvements to residential, commercial and retail properties that increase the appraised value at least $15,000.

Residential properties would be eligible for a 75 percent rebate while commercial and retail properties would receive a 100 percent rebate over the five year period.
