(KNZA)-- A Hiawatha man facing charges of sexual exploitation of a child has been found competent to stand trial.
During a hearing Tuesday, Brown County District Judge Jim Patton determined that 43-year-old Lonnie Johansen was competent to stand trial based on an evaluation by Kanza Mental Health. His court-appointed attorney requested the competency evaluation.
Johansen is charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a child for allegedly possessing child pornography.
A preliminary hearing in the case is now set for February 18th.
Johansen was arrested in October following an investigation by the Hiawatha Police Department.
He remains in the Brown County Jail on $500,000 bond
