Jury Finds Falls City Man Guilty of Felony Charges

(KLZA)-- A Richardson County District Court jury has found 43-year old Scott D. Hayes of Falls City guilty of two felony charges of terroristic threats.

Following the trial Wednesday, jurors deliberated for about 90 minutes before returning the verdict.

Hayes was arrested May 5th after Falls City Police Officers were called to the 1000 block of Stone Street to a disturbing the peace complaint. Upon arrival officer James Wasson came into contact with Hayes who was sitting in the drivers side of a vehicle. When the officer started a driving under the influence investigation Hayes allegedly became combative and non-compliant.

Originally Hayes was arrested for assaulting Officer Wasson, DUI, resisting arrest, terroristic threats and criminal mischief. Following his arrest and being jailed Hayes threatened Jailer Dave Clark.

Sentencing was scheduled for March 17 by Richardson County District Court Judge Daniel Bryan Jr. Hayes remains in custody.

In August, Hayes was charged with being a habitual criminal. He could face 10 - 60 years in prison if convicted on the charge. The matter is expected to be taken up after his sentencing in the terroristic threats cases.

Hayes was convicted three times previously of crimes resulting in his incarceration for periods of not less than one year in prison.
