(KAIR)--A Rushville, Missouri woman was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after she allegedly wielded a gun on an Atchison Street.
Police Chief Mike Wison says officers were called to the 400 block of U Street shortly before 3:45. Upon arrival, they were able to determine that 45-year-old Bethel Paige Chalfant had allegedly parked nearby and had exited her vehicle with a shotgun in hand, headed to a nearby house.
Chalfant was stopped before she could reach the home by an off duty corrections officer who happened to be passing by. The officer contacted police, and Chalfant was taken into custody and transported to the Atchison County Jail, where she faces one charge of aggravated assault.
