(KAIR)--The Atchison Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that took place at a local business Thursday night.
According to Police Chief Mike Wilson, the incident took place just before 10:00 at the Dollar General Store, located in the 700 block of Kansas Avenue. The suspect entered the store just as it was closing, showed a gun to the two clerks and demanded money. He was given an unknown amount of cash and fled the scene on foot.
The suspect is described as a black male of average height and weight. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing dark, heavy clothing and had a ski mask covering his face.
Police are also attempting to identify the owner or driver of a vehicle that was seen in the vicinity of the robbery.
