Kansas Highway Patrol

(KNZA)--A local judge is a candidate for the position of Kansas Highway Patrol superintendent.
The Kansas Chief reports 22nd Judicial District Magistrate Judge Roy Roper, of Troy, recently traveled to Topeka for an interview.
Roper has served as magistrate judge since January 2001.  Prior to that, he served with the Kansas Highway Patrol for 25 years.
A search is currently underway for a new Patrol Superintendent to replace Colonel Ernest Garcia who retired effective January 5th.
Governor Brownback has appointed Major Mark Bruce as interim superintendent.  Bruce is a 25-year veteran of the Patrol.
