Additional Filings for Nemaha Co School/City Positions

(KMZA)--With the deadline nearing, there have been several additional filings for school board and city positions up for election in April in Nemaha County. 

Jamie Guerrero is the latest candidate to file for the member at-large position on the Nemaha Central USD 115 Board of Education.  Guerrero joins Doug Metzger and incumbent Owen Zinke in seeking the position.  If a fourth candidate files it will force a primary election.  Four positions are up for election on the board.

Four candidates have filed so far for three of the four open positions on the Prairie Hills USD 113 Board. Tammy Hinton is seeking position 1, currently held by Tim Aberle,  Kathy Lippert has filed for position 3, currently held by Cheryl Wenger.  Wenger is no longer eligible for the position.  Michael Bachelor and Kent Saylor are both seeking position 7, member at-large, currently held by Julia Alfers.  No candidates have filed so far for position 5, currently held by Brent Lortscher.

Four candidates have filed so far for three open seats on the Sabetha City Commission.  They include the three incumbents—Nick Aberle, Julie Burenheide and Rick Koch.  Kenny Miller has filed to challenge Koch as Commissioner of Utilities.

There have been no filings so far for three open seats on the Seneca City Council, and position of mayor.   3rd Ward Councilman Galen Niehues has announced he doesn't plan to seek re-election.  Also up for election are the  1st Ward council position, currently held by Ray Shinn and 2nd Ward council position, currently held by Steve Bennett.     

Candidates have until noon Tuesday, January 27th to file for school board positions at the Nemaha County Clerk's office and city offices at their respective city clerk's office.
