(KAIR)--Atchison County's Second District will soon be in need of a new Commissioner.
That follows Tuesday's announcement by Commissioner Mike Bodenhausen that he is stepping down effective March 1st.
Bodenhausen made his decision to resign public Tuesday during the regular meeting of the Atchison County Commission. He cites employment opportunities that will impact his ability to regularly attend meetings as the reason behind his decision.
“I have enjoyed working with him,” Commission Chairman Jeff Schuele tells MSC News. “All of us bring something different to the office. Mike has served his constituents well and I wish him all the best in his future endeavors.” .
Bodenhausen has served on the Commission since January 2012.
His replacement will be selected through a nominating process by the members of the Second District Republican Precinct, with that future selection to then be submitted to Governor Brownback for approval, and appointment, to the seat.
