Falls City EDGE Names Investors of the Year

(KLZA)-- The annual Falls City EDGE banquet was held January 7th at the Grand Weaver Hotel in Falls City.

Charles Schroeder, Executive Director of the Rural Futures Institute was the guest speaker.  

The economic development organization presented two local businesses with the Investor of the Year Award.

Merz Farm Equipment, a business owned by three generations of Merz’s since 1952 added 4,000 square feet of space to their existing 10,000 square foot facility in 2014.

The $500,000 investment in Falls City allowed the company to expanded employment and will help the company owned by Bruce and Mitch Merz to better serve there customers and helps keep the economy strong.

WASP Inc. with headquarters in Glenwood, Minnesota made a $500,000 investment in their Falls City plant and equipment in 2014, expanding the companies capabilities.  WASP now employs more than 100 people in Falls City. Jerry Koopman is the Plant Manager at Falls City.  

Mitch Merz was elected to the EDGE Board of Directors during the business meeting conducted by EDGE President Bart Keller.
