(KNZA)--One dead following a Friday evening Brown County house fire.
The victim is identified as 68-year-old rural Robinson Resident Garry Guy, who was an occupant of the home, just west of Timber Road, on 230th Road.
Brown County Sheriff John Merchant says Guy reported the blaze shortly before 7:20, with a second occupant of the home able to escape without injury.
The Robinson Fire Department, assisted by numerous area fire crews, braved the frigid Friday night temperatures while battling the blaze.
The home is considered a total loss.
The State Fire Marshall has been called in to assist with the investigation into the cause of the blaze.
Merchant commends the efforts of those who rushed to the scene, including the Fire Departments from Robinson, Hiawatha, Everest, Fairview, Highland, and the Iowa Tribal Fire Department, along with the Brown County Rescue Unit.
