(KLZA)-- Two Richardson County residents are among the 95 election poll workers Nebraska Secretary of State John Gale has recognized for 20 years or more of service.
Elaine Burgett of Humboldt and Carol Kean of Dawson are among the 2014 Poll Worker Hall of Fame Inductees.
Gale serves as Nebraska’s chief elections officer. He says the voluntary civic service provided by poll workers is invaluable and that Election Day could not happen without them.
The Poll Workers Hall of Fame was begun in 2006. Since then more than 1,400 workers have been honored from across the state. Only those with a minimum 20 years of consecutive service can be nominated.
