(KAIR)--The city of Atchison has renewed their employee workers compensation insurance policy for 2015.
City Finance Director Becky Anderson proposed the renewal to City Commissioners during their meeting Monday afternoon.
The city's rate went up about nine percent this year to approximately $160,000 compared to nearly $140,000 last year. Anderson says this was anticipated based on some previous claim history. However, she hopes that will come off with this coming renewal, which should lead to lower rates next year.
Anderson says the company providing the policy, Kansas Municipal Insurance Trust, has worked with the city for over twenty years, and this was the twenty first renewal of the policy.
Commissioners approved the renewal with a 5-0 vote.
