(KLZA)-- Electrical customers of the Auburn Board of Public Works will see their rates increase 2.2 percent for 2015.
During the December Board meeting the increase was approved to cover the increased costs of wholesale power, which went up 4.4 percent in 2014. BPW General Manager Dave Hunter noted during the meeting that there had been a $300,000 increase in costs to the BPW stemming mostly from transmission costs, but also included fuel and insurance.
With the increase Auburn customers will see their averaged monthly electrical bill increase of $2.40; $2.60 in Nemaha, $2.72 in Johnson, $2.98 and Brownville and rural area customers will have an average monthly increase of $3.47.
