(KLZA)-- The Richardson County Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate two wrecks following the Thursday morning snowfall.
At approximately 7:45 a-m the Sheriff’s Office was called to 14th and Harlan Streets in Falls City. A minivan driven by Larry Burlingame of Falls City was southbound on Fulton Street and failed to yield to traffic on 14th Street. Burlingame said he was unable to stop due to slippery roads.
Falls City Police Chief Duane Armbruster was westbound in a Falls City Police Department pickup and struck Burlingame’s vehicle broadside near the middle of the intersection.
Burlingame’s vehicle appeared to be totaled. Burlingame was transported to Community Medical Center by the Falls City Volunteer Ambulance Squad. Police Chief Armbruster was not injured, and the city pickup was able to be driven from the scene.
Several witnesses said Burlingame failed to stop at the STOP sign. Burlingame was issued a citation for failure to yield.
At about 5:50 a-m a single vehicle wreck occurred on Highway 73 about two miles north of Falls City. The vehicle struck a guardrail. The driver was taken by private vehicle to Community Medical Center in Falls City prior to a Deputy arriving on the scene. Information about the wreck is still being gathered.
