Koylen Corbin McKinney
(KNZA)--A Topeka teen has pleaded guilty to charges in a Holton child abuse case.
18-year-old Koylen Corbin McKinney had originally pleaded “not guilty” to felony counts of aggravated battery, abuse of a child and aggravated endangerment of a child in September and a jury trial had been set for next month. However, Jackson County Attorney Shawna Miller says McKinney changed his plea last Friday during a pre-trial hearing.
Sentencing has been scheduled for January 23rd.
McKinney was arrested in April following a medical call to a Holton apartment complex where a 7-month-old boy was found unresponsive. The child was airlifted to a Kansas City area hospital. He has since been released from the hospital, but faces numerous complications, including serious brain damage.
