(KAIR)--Atchison residents who have already signed up for the new curbside single source recycling service can expect their new recycling carts to be delivered sometime during the month of December.
City Public Works and Utilities Director Justin Pregont says the city was able to purchase the carts for the free service at a cost similar to the trash carts that were recently purchased.
Pregont adds that along with a new cart, residents will receive a 2015 recycling calendar and a recycling guide informing them how to best utilize the new service.
The service utilizes a system of both green and blue colored lids to split up recyclers on an every other week basis. The first week for green lid recycling will be January 6th-9th, while the blue lid recycling will be January 13th-16th.
Carts will only be issued to those residents who request the service. To sign up, visit cityofatchison.com/recycle, or call the city shop at 367-5561.
