The Seneca City Council has renewed it’s employee health insurance plan with Blue Cross and Blue for 2015.
The Council voted Wednesday evening to stay with the current plan, which calls for a 14 percent premium increase, and absorb the cost. The total premium will be just over $526,000. The plan’s renewal date is December 1st. However, the council plans to change renewal dates in the summer of 2015.
In other business, the Council approved a resolution setting a condemnation hearing for January 7th on the old dental office building located at 30 North 5th Street owned by Dr. David Bowman. The city has received complaints about the condition of the building.
Following an executive session, the Council voted to raise the rates for Nemaha County Rural Water District #2. The water district, which serves the Baileyville area, has a contract with the city for the purchase of water.
The council also briefly discussed the sale of property that the old tennis courts were located on. It was suggested that City Administrator Matt Rehder advertise for the sale of the property.
