(KAIR)--A Leavenworth County non-profit organization is one of several Kansas organzations that will receive funding from a federal grant program designed to help victims of crime.
Governor Sam Brownback announced Monday that he is awarding nearly $4 million in grants for the 2015 Federal Victims of Crime Act, or VOCA, Victim Assistance Grant Program. Leavenworth's Alliance Against Family Violence will receive approximately $110,600 of that money.
The VOCA grants provide direct services to crime victims to respond to their emotional and physical needs, assist primary and secondary crime victims in stabilizing their lives after a victimization, and assists victims in understanding and participating in the criminal justice system.
