(KNZA)--A Sabetha man has pleaded no contest to charges in a child rape case. 51-year-old William Vogel enter the plea Monday in Nemaha County District Court to charges of rape, aggravated indecent liberties with a child and kidnapping after waiving his preliminary hearing. Sentencing was set for December 18th. Authorities say the crimes involving a child under the age of 14 occurred on or about August 10th in Sabetha. Vogel fled the local area and the Sabetha Police Department enlisted the assistance of the U.S. Marshal’s to help locate him. He was finally taken into custody in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on September 9th after he turned himself into authorities. Vogel remains in the Nemaha County Jail on one million dollars bond.
