(KNZA)--A December 11th preliminary hearing has been set for a Jackson County fire chief accused of embezzling funds while acting as treasurer of an area organization.
Jackson County Attorney Shawna Miller says 45-year-old Ryan White, of Soldier, made his first appearance in a Jackson County courtroom Monday on two counts of felony theft and five counts of misdemeanor theft.
Miller says White indicated he plans to hire his own attorney.
Authorities allege White stole nearly $3,900 from the Soldier Ball Association from August 2012 through May 2nd of this year while acting as treasurer of the organization.
He was arrested last month following an investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.
White is currently free on $15,000 bond.
