(KNZA)--Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Herrig has been elected president of the Kansas Sheriffs’ Association for 2015.
Herrig was elected during the Association’s fall conference, which was held Tuesday through Thursday in Dodge City. He will begin his new role in January, replacing Gray County Sheriff Jim Kramer who is serving as 2014 president. Herrig said “ it’s quite an honor to be able to represent all of the sheriff’s in the state”. Herrig has served as sheriff of Jefferson County since 2008. He began serving with the sheriff’s office in 1982, holding the positions of deputy, sergeant, lieutenant and undersheriff. Also during the Association’s fall conference, Jefferson County Sheriff Department Captain Randy Carreno was named deputy of the year.
The Kansas Sheriffs’ Association was incorporated in 1957 to unite the 105 county sheriffs of Kansas, as well as to educate fellow officers and the public regarding law enforcement issues.
