(KAIR)--An Atchison man was taken into custody Sunday, after allegedly taking part in a burglary of a home located in the 600 block of North Second Street.
Lieutenant Tim Stout of the Atchison Police Department says it all started just after 3:30 Sunday morning when the female victim returned home to find her basement door open. She investigated further, and discovered 27-year-old Joshua Spurlock, who is an acquaintance of her family inside the basement.
Stout says that when the victim started to question Spurlock, he left the scene. A short time later, she discovered that her mothers purse was missing. It was found a short time later near the residence, however, several items were missing.
Police located Spurlock just before noon at a residence located in the 1100 block of North Fifth Street. He was booked into the Atchison County Jail on charges including aggravated burglary and theft.
