(KNZA)--A wanted Hiawatha teenager is now in custody. 

That word this morning from Brown County Sheriff John Merchant who says 17-year-old Braiden Guido was apprehended without incident. 

He was taken into custody in the 300 Block of 8th Street in Hiawatha around 7:00 Monday morning. 

Hiawatha Police and the Kansas Highway Patrol assisted with the apprehension. 

The search for Guido's whereabouts began Sunday, with Merchant saying only that he was a person of interest in recent criminal activity in Brown County. 

The alert for Guido's whereabouts was issued shortly after a report of shots being fired in the Fairview area on Sunday afternoon, but a direct connection between the search and the shooting has not been confirmed. 

Reports regarding the shooting indicate there were no injuries.

On 10-26-2014 at approximately 1:40 p.m. officers responded to a report of
a reckless driver coming from Fairview on 36 Hwy.  The call was then
amended to a shots fired call stemming from  the same incident.  An officer
encountered the suspects and stopped the vehicle in the vicinity of 311 N.
8th in Hiawatha.  2 of the suspects were apprehended at that location and
the other suspect, Braiden Guido 17, fled to his residence at that
location.
Upon investigation  Walter Lee Cole, Jr, 35 Morrill was arrested on a
charge of Aggravated Assault and Angel Spomer 19 of Centralia was arrested
on a charge of Felony Obstruction.  Also arrested stemming from this
incident was Joni Spitzengal 39 and Adam Johnson 29 both of Hiawatha and
both charged with Obstruction.
A search warrant was executed on the residence at 311 N. 8th and Guido was
discovered in the attic by the Kansas Highway Patrol SRT team at
approximately 7 a.m. this morning  and was arrested.
Many law enforcement entities responded to assist and we appreciate all of
the cooperation we always receive when extra assistance is needed. Thank

plane, Iowa, Sac and Fox and Kickapoo Tribal Police, Nemaha County and
Sabetha Police and Horton Police.

When an incident of this magnitude happens, many times misinformation makes
it way to the public over social media from well meaning citizens and
through the media from those wanting to hurry up and get a story on the
wire.  Also bits and pieces are heard from scanners and misinterpreted.
Sometimes law enforcement does not always provide immediate information to
the public as the investigation is still ongoing and we need to concentrate
our efforts on issues at hand for the safety of the public.  By divulging
too much information a case can be compromised and that is the reason for
providing limited information at times.

In this case, no shots were ever confirmed in the city of Hiawatha and no
officers were ever shot at.  The location of the individual was secured by
law enforcement and the entry team was called in to respond to a barricaded
subject.  This is pretty much standard protocol in these types of
situations. Before an entry team enters a structure, attempts are made to
contact the suspect, when that fails-tear gas is deployed as well as
flash-bangs.  This distracts the suspect which makes the apprehension safer
for the officers.
