(KNZA)--Another scam works it's way around Brown County, this one targeting businesses and some residents.
Brown County Sheriff John Merchant says a caller, with a very distinct accent, is telling would be victims that he is a federal agent. The scammer then states that the person called has until the end of the day to wire a certain amount of money to him or a federal warrant will be issued and the person will be arrested at their place of employment.
Merchant says his office has received several concerned calls regarding the scam, and he urges anyone who is contacted to notify his office.
Merchant reminds everyone to never provide personal information, or money, to anyone who calls unsolicited.

Id like to know what shows up on the caller ID? Ive been seeing some really strange numbers on mine in the last month..I dont pick up if I dont recognize the caller..and even then there are ways for a caller to spoof who they really are...be very careful...screen your calls.
