(KMZA)--A new Nemaha County Sheriff’s deputy has been hired, and a position filled on the county road crew.
Sheriff Rich Vernon told the Nemaha County Commission on Monday that he had hired Andy Bletscher to fill a open deputy position.
Bletscher is a 4-year veteran of the Sabetha Police Department and previously worked as a jailer at the Nemaha County Law Enforcement Center.
He will begin work October 1st at a salary of $15.20 an hour.
In other business, County Road and Bridge Supervisor Dennis Ronnebaum informed commissioners that he had hired Danny Schultejans for the open position on the bridge crew. Schultejans started work Monday at a salary of $13.50 an hour.
County Senior Services Director Diane Younghans also met with commissioners to discuss the possibility of hiring someone part-time to transport meals daily from the Seneca Nutrition Center to the Sabetha Nutrition Center and to fill in for both centers when someone is absent from work. Commissioners gave Younghans permission to advertise for the position.
