(KMZA)--The Marshall County Commission has adopted a 2015 county budget of $10.3 million that contains a slight mill levy increase.
The action followed a hearing last week in which several representatives of the County Extension Council voiced concerns over a decrease in the extension budget.
The Commission reduced the Extension Council budget for 2015 by $15,000 because of a salary difference between the new county extension agent and old agent.
The Extension Council representatives asked the Commission to consider increasing the appropriation because they had the money designated for raises and a vehicle.
The commission voted unanimously to take $1,000 from the Historical Society budget and move it to the Extension Council budget to pay for salary increases.
As adopted, the county budget contains an estimated tax rate of 51.987 mills—up .422 mills over this year. The mill levy is to generate nearly $6.8 million.
