Bar Owner Aims To Change St. Joseph Smoking Ban

(KAIR)--A St. Joseph bar owner has filed official paperwork with the city so he can start to collect signatures on a petition to alter recently passed smoking ban regulations.

According to KQ2-TV, Steve Peterman is working with other local bar owners to change the ban that was passed by voters in April. The petition they are circulating still needs to collect over 2,200 signatures.
Those in favor of altering the ban, believe that there is a great deal of support for the chance, and if it is put up for a vote, it would pass easily.

Some of the proposed revisions to the law include exempting establishments with a capacity of fewer than fifty people and those businesses that cater to only those who are 21 years old or younger.

If the petition is successful, the city council would then have sixty days to enact it into law, or then have it go before voters.
