(KMZA)--A new crosswalk will be installed at a Seneca school.
At the request of Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School Principal Dr. Amy Beck, the Seneca City Council Wednesday evening approved the installation of a crosswalk at 11th and Nemaha Streets. Beck said in a letter that the intersection is being used by students and she would like to make the crossing safer.
The school donated $350 for signs, poles and paint for the crossing. As of Tuesday, the school began posting a crossing guard at the intersection.
City Administrator Matt Rehder was directed to contact homeowners along Nemaha Street from 10th to 11th about installing a sidewalk on their property.
In other business, the council approved a motion to close Elk Street from 10th to 11th by the Seneca City Park to allow for the “Party In The Park” fundraiser on Saturday, September 13th. The event is a benefit for Cindy McWilliams medical expenses.
And the council discussed meeting with the American Legion and the Seneca Ball Association to plan improvements to the ball fields. The city administrator was asked to bring cost estimates for the project to the next council meeting.
