(KNZA)--A rural Horton man, facing felony sex charges involving a child, has been found competent to stand trial.
26-year-old Shandon Hoobler learned that decision in a Brown County courtroom Friday, when District Judge Jim Patton handed down the ruling, based on a mental health evaluation conducted by Kanza Mental Health.
A status conference hearing in the case is scheduled for Wednesday. A preliminary hearing date is expected to be set at that time.
Hoobler is facing one count each of electronic solicitation of a child and sexual exploitation of a child.
He was arrested in May following an investigation by the Brown County Sheriff’s Department.
Brown County Attorney Kevin Hill says the alleged offenses took place between January 1st and May 16th with a victim, identified only as a child born in 2002, who resides in Brown County.
Hoobler remains in the Brown County Jail on one-million dollars bond.
