( KNZA)--A woman was injured after jumping from a moving vehicle in Holton late Thursday evening.
According to a news release from Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse, the sheriff’s office received a 911 call shortly before 11 reporting a female had jumped from a moving vehicle in front of the Walmart entrance in the 200 block of Arizona Street in Holton. The female was unconscious on scene and breathing.
Morse says the driver of the 2001 white Dodge van, 38-year-old Mendon, Missouri resident Frederick Pearson, reported he had seen the woman jumping in and out of traffic north of Holton on US Hwy 75. Pearson stopped to help the woman who told him she needed help. Morse says Pearson drove the woman to Holton to find help for her when she jumped from his vehicle.
Deputies later identified the woman as 32-year-old Korri Jean Groves, of Topeka. Groves reportedly had been staying recently at a residence north of Holton.
Jackson County EMS transported Groves to a Topeka hospital.
The incident remains under investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Holton Police Department.
