(KAIR)--A 17-year-old Atchison boy is facing legal troubles, accused of forcing his way into a residence Saturday and stealing around $1,000 worth of items from the home, located in the 500 block of Spring Street.
Police Chief Mike Wilson says the young suspect was taken into custody on Sunday. “A resident was away from the residence for several hours. When she returned home, she found forced entry had been made into the residence,” Wilson tells MSC News. “There were a number of things taken, which included a purse with its contents, jewelry, and some clothing. Police worked the scene that evening and continued on Sunday to investigate, and subsequently took into custody a 17-year-old male for burglary and theft who, it was determined, lived nearby.”
The teen, following his arrest, was released to juvenile detention.
