(KMZA)-- Two separate wrecks Sunday morning in Marshall County sent seven people to the hospital.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the first wreck happened shortly before 2 at the intersection of Highway 36 and 18th Road about one and a half miles east of Home City, and left four young Frankfort residents with disabling injuries.
The Patrol says 18-year-old Casey Farrant was southbound on 18th road in a pickup truck when he failed to yield and struck the trailer of semi hauling frozen meat that was eastbound on Highway 36.
Farrant was taken to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City. Three passengers were also injured. 17-year-old John Essman was taken to Topeka's Stormont Vail Hospital, while 15-year-old Whalen Kokoruda and 20-year-old Hunter Boyle were both taken to Bryan Medical Center West in Lincoln. The Patrol says none of the occupants were wearing seatbelts.
The semi driver from Beatrice, Nebraska wasn't hurt.
The second wreck happened shortly before 8 on U.S. 77 Highway about five miles north of Marysville and left three teens injured.
The Patrol says 18-year-old Haley Nester, whose hometown wasn't listed, was southbound when her car went off the highway into the west ditch and entered a cornfield.
Nester and two passengers from Bremen, 17-year-old Kiley Larson and 16-year-old Macy Larson, were transported to the Marysville hospital.
