(KMZA)--A new name, a new mascot, and now a new fight song, as USD 115 begins the new school year.
Following consolidation, the former Nemaha Valley High School is now known as Nemaha Central, represented by the Thunder mascot, chosen from a list of choices decided by a committee comprised of students and staff last October.
Then, in December, students and staff voted on a new logo to represent the selected mascot.
On Monday, the Board of Education, gave approval to the school's new fight song, titled “Fight, Fight, Fight, Mighty Thunder.”
The decision was made just in time for the start of the 2014-2015 school year, as students on Thursday returned to the classroom.
The lyrics of the fight song have been posted on the district's website, along with an instrumental version of the accompanying music.
The USD 115 Board of Education voted in March of last year to close the B & B Junior-Senior High School at the end of the 2013-2014 school year, with all district students now attending class in Seneca.
