(MSC News)--The Jackson County Relay for Life Committee wishes to thank everyone in the Jackson County community for their support. We have raised almost $30,000 in cash donations. This includes almost $1000 that was raised from the auction that was held as part of the Survivor and Caregiver Walk in June.
The cash donations go to the American Cancer Society for cancer research. So far, the American Cancer Society funds grants to more project than the federal government does.
Twenty five survivors registered during the Survivor Walk. Twenty eight survivors and a total of sixty people including caregivers attended the Survivor and Caregiver Appreciation Dinner on June 1. One of our goals for next year is to gain more names and contact information about the cancer survivors in our area so that we can invite them to these events.
We encourage you to contact the American Cancer Society at 1-877-227-2345 if you are newly-diagnosed with cancer or need assistance in any way. Let’s all “Finish the Fight!” against cancer.
