Re-Sentencing Possible For Atchison Woman Convicted Of Murder

(KAIR)--An Atchison woman, who was convicted in 2000 for the murder of her husband, may be eligible for re-sentencing.

54-year-old Lisa Boldridge was in Atchison County District Court last Monday afternoon for a status hearing with her court appointed attorney. Jessica Domme, from the State Attorney General's Office, who is acting as prosecutor in the re-sentencing phase, requested more time to review all files related to the case before proceeding. A continuance was granted, with another status hearing set for October 27th.

Boldridge was originally sentenced under Kansas' “Hard Fifty” law to life in prison without the possibility of parole for fifty years in February 2000. However, the United States Supreme Court's recent ruling that the Hard Fifty sentence could only be handed down by a jury, and not a judge made it necessary to proceed with the re-sentencing.
