(KNZA)--The Children Services Librarian at Doniphan County's Library District Number 1 has been suspended without pay.
That clarification is made by Library Board President Dan Glynn who, this week, outlined the situation for the numerous supporters opposed to the loss of “Miss” Cindy Hoverson.
Avoiding direct comment on what transpired, in order to keep from violationg personnel privacy, Glynn says three motions, related to the future of Hoverson's employment, were addressed during a special meeting of the board held July 29th.
The first of those motions was to allow Hoverson to resign which would mean she'd receive severance pay equivalent to three months' salary plus up to 10 days unused leave time, contingent upon Hoverson signing a release of claims agreement.
The second motion, should Hoverson decline to resign, would mean her termination and a loss of severance.
The third motion was to suspend Hoverson without pay, until her decision is finalized.
According to Glynn, his attempt to contact Hoverson has so far been unsuccessful, leaving her officially suspended until a conversation takes place.
According to a post made Friday by Hoverson on a Facebook page set up by her numerous supporters, she has been out of town on vacation, and plans to meet with an attorney on Monday.
She told KQ2-TV this week that she will not accept the board's offer.
Although the details of what led to the board's decision remain unspecified, Hoverson has said the the matter arose over disagreements between her and library director Maggie McKeithan.
