(KLZA)-- Richardson County Commissioners Tuesday voted to enter into an agreement with Omaha-based Prochaska and Associates to proceed with the schematic design phase of the proposed jail project. That will include a site survey and review by Nebraska Jail Standards and should take about a month. The cost is not to exceed $35,000 plus out of pocket expenses.
Commissioners conducted a public hearing to determine if a public nuisance existed along county road right-of-way on property owned by Douglas and Amy DeBolt. Following the hearing, Commissioners declared the roadside brush and overhanging trees located on the property did constitute a nuisance. The DeBolts will be informed they have 30 days to abate the public nuisance.
The nuisance is along the east side of 645 Avenue between 711 and 712 Road which is located between Verdon and Salem.
Commissioners met with Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert. The completion of the Preston Road Project was reviewed. Advertisement was approved for sealed bids for the purchase of a 2013 nor newer 4-wheel drive utility tractor. Bids are to be opened on August 26th.
Advertisement for sealed bids for the sale of equipment the County has determined to be surplus, including a 1979 John Deere 4640 with dozer blade, a 15-foot batwing shredder; 1990 GMC truck and a 1990 White / GMC Tractor Truck will be accepted until August 26th.
The Board also voted to deny a claim submitted by Richardson County Rural Water District #1 for reimbursement for relocating a water line 25 feet north of the existing line due to the relocation of a bridge northwest of Humboldt. The claim was in the amount of $8,596.
