The Kansas Historical Society will present the workshop Discovering the Secrets of Your House: Researching Historic Properties 4 p.m. Saturday, August 23 in Marvin Auditorium 101C at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, 1515 SW 10th Avenue. Representatives of the Historical Society, Library, and Topeka Landmarks Commission will discuss historic architectural styles found in Topeka, provide tips on researching the history of a property and neighborhood using local library resources, and highlight significant local landmarks. For more information, visit kshs.org/18529.
The program is presented in cooperation with the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library and the Topeka Landmarks Commission as part of the Preserve Topeka workshop series. In 2014, Topeka is commemorating the 160th anniversary of its founding. The Preserve Topeka workshop series was developed to honor this milestone and encourage Topekans to preserve their family and local history.
