(KAIR)--When aerobatic pilot Julie Clark takes to the skies Saturday night to preform as part of the Amelia Earhart Festival, it will be to put on what she calls a very patriotic performance.
Clark says there is a very special reason why there is a patriotic theme to her performance. She says that “our country is in a bad way right now...things are really popping overseas. We just gotta keep our American flag flying, be proud of what we do, and keep our freedom intact. So I do a big tribute to our veterans and our troops that are out there”.
Clark was one of the first female pilots to work for a major airline, and she says that while the number of female pilots was less than one percent when she started, and when she retired nearly thirty years later, it was st ill less than three percent, but those numbers have risen over the years. She says the future is bright for female pilots, but we do need to start inspiring our young people.
Andrew Webb will serve as narrator for the show, and he says his role is a vital one. He says that when people look up in the sky and see Julie flying, they are going to want to know what she is doing and what they are seeing, and the role of the narrator is to give them that information.
Webb says there show will stand out from most others in that they will be adding a lot of special effects such as wingtip smoke and fireworks. Julie will also be speaking with the crowd from the cockpit during the show.
Julie Clark and her team will start their performance just after 8:30 Saturday night after it gets completely dark. The event will take place over the Riverfront Park.
